The heart of insitro’s strategy is the development of novel, cutting edge methods in machine learning and high-throughput biology to address key bottlenecks in the drug development pipeline. To accomplish that, we are putting together an incredible team of highly talented biologist, bioengineers, machine learners, and data scientists who want to make a difference to this important problem.  You will have experience leading a stem cell group and cross-functional project teams. You will have a deep expertise in the generation of iPSCs and iPSC-based disease models across diverse areas including inflammation, neurological, and metabolic disease.  You will be an expert in the differentiation of iPSC to multiple lineages and complex co-culture and 3D organoid systems.  You will have knowledge of state of the art genome-editing and high-throughput assay development techniques such as single cell RNA-seq and multielectrode array. You will also have experience managing and negotiating with academics groups CROs and vendors to bring forward the best in vitro disease models under tight deadlines. You will collaborate to generate large data sets and analyzing the data (internally generated, from external partnerships, or publicly available), make and validate predictions, allowing for the development of effective drugs. You will participate in presenting these results to internal and external stakeholders, and in disseminating your work via scientific publications. You will be joining as the founding team of a biotech startup that has long-term stability due to significant funding, yet is very much in formation providing many opportunities for significant impact. About You
  • PhD in developmental biology, cell biology, genetics, molecular biology, or related fields, or equivalent experience
  • Experience leading a stem cell group and leading cross-functional project teams
  • Deep knowledge and expertise in generation of iPSC-based disease models
  • Deep knowledge and expertise in generation and differentiation of iPSCs to multiple lineages, including using direct transcription factor conversion methods
  • Experience in developing complex systems such as organoids or co-culture models
  • Experience in gene-editing and generation of genetically manipulated cells
  • Experience managing and negotiating with academics groups CROs and vendors to maximize internal iPSC efforts 
  • Familiarity with state of the art high-throughput assay development techniques such as single cell RNA-seq and multielectrode array
  • Familiarity with high-throughput cell culture automation, such as Hamilton and CompacT 
  • Demonstrated track record of successful scientific execution and communication
  • Excellent communication skills, including with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Requires a high level of creativity and flexibility
  • Passion for working in a team and making a difference in the world

  • 6-10 years of practical experience working on iPSC-based disease modeling projects
