About Relay Therapeutics
Our company was founded on the premise that protein motion can be used to build breakthrough medicines. The team at Relay is putting this principle into practice, with the aim of accelerating the development of medicines that will make a transformative difference in patients’ lives. We don't just stare hard problems in the face. We go out looking for them. Are you energized by attempting to do the impossible? We're looking for you.
At Relay, our team is energized by using a unique platform that integrates computation, structural biology and biophysics to leverage protein motion for small molecule drug discovery.  Putting protein motion at the heart of drug discovery is a challenge, but we are confident that our team’s dedication and urgency will create opportunities that deeply impact the lives of the patients. We're building a company for the ages. Are you ready to #jointherelay?
The opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated, creative and collaborative Research Associate to join our multidisciplinary Biochemistry, Biophysics and Structural Biology (BBSB) group in a hands-on role to discover the next generation of innovative therapeutics based on protein motion.

Your role

    • You’ll focus on using multiple biophysical methods, such as SPR, ITC, MST and DSF, to find small molecule leads, characterize screening hits and project compounds, and determine their molecular mechanism of action
    • You’ll be responsible for analyzing, interpreting and presenting data to project teams
    • You’ll contribute to development of experimental methods for measuring small molecule:protein interactions and understanding protein conformational dynamics
    • You’ll help to explore and evaluate new biophysical technologies
    • You will collaborate and participate in multidisciplinary teams, contributing to group knowledge and exchanging ideas

Your background

      • You earned your BA/BS or MS degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Enzymology or a related field and bring 2+ years of relevant industry experience
      • You have a solid understanding of protein structure, biophysical chemistry, and/or enzyme mechanism
      • You bring a demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret and present data in a clear manner
      • You have a true interest in contributing to medicinal chemistry drug discovery efforts to evaluate compound SAR and mode of action characterization
      • An excellent and clear communicator, you have strong interpersonal skills
      • Do you have experience with SPR, ITC or MST? This will be strongly valued
At Relay, we believe that along with our scientists, our culture is our greatest asset.  In fact we're proud to share we were named as one of the Boston Business Journal's "Best Places to Work" in 2017 & the #1 place for small companies in 2018.   To drive that culture, no one will stop you or hold you back. Instead, we will give you the tools and colleagues to push forward relentlessly and cheer you on as you go. If this resonates with you, drop us a line.
