Biomarker Researcher at Constellation Pharmaceuticals
Cambridge, MA, US
Constellation Pharmaceuticals is a pioneer epigenetics company, focused on the discovery and development of novel, small molecules targeting chromatin regulatory proteins in tumor and immune cells for therapeutic applications in oncology. Our unique discovery platform integrates our understanding of chromatin-regulatory mechanisms with cancer and immune pathways to optimize our drug discovery activities and fully enable the clinical translation of our programs.
The Biomarker Researcher will be responsible for the implementation and interpretation of biomarkers in the clinical development of Constellation’s portfolio of novel compounds. The incumbent will guide the implementation and interpretation of biomarkers used to assess a compound’s pharmacodynamic effects in patients and of biomarkers used to guide the selection of patients most likely to benefit from treatment. S/He will be responsible for coordinating and managing biomarker work with external vendors and academic laboratories conducted on behalf of/in collaboration with Constellation. While this individual will be primarily responsible for biomarker implementation and interpretation in the clinic, s/he will work closely with Constellation’s research organization responsible for biomarker discovery and provide guidance regarding the utility and feasibility of candidate biomarkers in the clinic.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Assess, validate, implement and interpret pharmacodynamic and patient selection biomarkers in clinical trials of drug candidates being developed by Constellation Pharmaceuticals
Select vendors and academic laboratories for biomarker implementation; coordinate/manage their work and budgets
Develop the biomarker strategy for clinical protocols: identify the optimal biomarkers to be evaluated, appropriate tissue samples, relevant time points, and appropriate sampling collection, handling, distribution, storage and tracking
Analyze biomarker data obtained from the clinic, relating it to PK, safety and efficacy; write the biomarker sections of clinical study reports, other clinical documents and publications
Collaborate with preclinical scientists at Constellation to provide guidance regarding the utility and feasibility of candidate biomarkers
Experience / Qualifications:
At least five (5) years’ industry experience; a Ph.D. degree is required; an M.D. or M.D. / Ph.D. degree is preferred
Knowledge of cancer biology and cancer pathways and their relevance to the clinic
Knowledge of oncology clinical trial design
Working knowledge of genetic / genomic and / bioinformatic technologies in order to guide their application in translational approaches, especially in oncology
Facility with the use of biostatistics in the analysis of biomarker and other clinical data
Working knowledge of the regulatory guidelines regarding the development of companion diagnostics
