Principal Scientist/Director, Bioconjugate Scientist at Magenta Therapeutics

The Biotherapeutics group at Magenta Therapeutics is looking for an individual experienced in bioconjugation, purification and characterization of complex bioconjugates to play an important role in the discovery and development of transformative biotherapeutics for hematopoietic stem cell transplant. S/he will be responsible for bioconjugation activities to produce novel antibody drug conjugates. In this capacity, s/he will have a lead role in working cross-functionally as part of internal multi-disciplinary teams, as well as working with external partners and CROs. S/he will be expected to participate in experimental design and planning, conduct experiments, maintain detailed records, and communicate results.
Responsibilities:
Synthesis, purification and characterization of ADCs and development and optimization of conjugation protocols utilizing novel chemistries and technologies
Represent the bioconjugation group as a member of multidisciplinary project teams
Design, production and characterization of proteins and antibodies engineered to facilitate site specific conjugation
Identify and manage projects with external collaborators and CROs.
Write technical reports for patent applications, IND reports and scientific publications.
Record and communicate findings in a timely manner
Requirements:
This position requires a PhD in Biochemistry, Chemistry or related discipline with 7+ years of industrial experience. Qualified MS candidates should have at least 15 years of industrial experience in a drug discovery and development setting
Proven people and program leadership experience needed for consideration at Director level
Previous experience in the discovery and development of ADCs, including hands-on experience with the conjugation process is required
Experience in the processes and requirements for moving ADCs from discovery to IND is highly desirable.
Broad knowledge of protein engineering in the context of targeted delivery is preferred
Proven ability in collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams
Excellent analytical, communication, organizational and presentation skills essential.
Must be able to deliver in a timeline-driven, fast-paced, start-up environment.
