Senior Scientist, Peptide Chemistry at Neon Therapeutics

Position Summary

Neon is seeking a highly-motivated peptide chemist at Senior Scientist level. The candidate will work within Peptide Chemistry department and in close collaboration with other groups at Neon on programs that aim to develop novel personalized neoantigen based cancer vaccines. He/she will work independently as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop and optimize peptide synthesis and manufacturing process.

Job responsibilities include:

Develop and optimize high-throughput peptide synthesis process for GMP manufacturing
Develop and optimize methods and protocols for automated peptide synthesizers and cleavage apparatus for fast peptide synthesis and manufacturing
Streamline peptide synthesis process using state-of-the art technologies
Implement LIMS in peptide synthesis and manufacturing
Liaise with CMOs for technology transfer and technical support
Produce peptides for vaccine and T-cell research programs
Work cross-functionally within the organization including analytical chemistry, purification, synthesis, bioinformatics, technology operations and biological groups to meet company goals.
Experience and essential skills:

Ph.D. in peptide chemistry, synthetic organic chemistry, or a related discipline with 4+ years of industry experience.
Hands-on experience in solid phase peptide synthesis, automated peptide synthesizers, automated purification equipment, and analytical instruments including HPLC, UPLC, LC-MS, etc.
Experience in process development and/or GMP manufacturing is a plus.
Experience in automation is desirable
Proven track record of creative thinking and consistent delivery as demonstrated by publication/presentation records.
Highly organized with a pro-active mentality
Excellent interpersonal, networking and communication skills
Must be able to work in a team and collaborative environment
