Position Summary

We are seeking an innovative, collaborative and enthusiastic Software Engineer to work on a variety of company-building software projects centered on research-enabling enterprise systems. This individual will play a key role designing and engineering informatics systems that enhance company infrastructure, such as LIMS. A critical component of the job will be the close collaboration with research scientists to understand, design and implement information systems that enable high throughput research, such as NGS and peptide synthesis. This individual will be a critical thought leader in the company, collaborating closely with discovery and development scientists.

Job Responsibilities

Play pivotal role in the design, management, engineering, deployment and support of key research systems. This will include, but is not limited to Lab Information Management Systems, sample management systems, peptide library management systems
Focus on identifying and implement Informatics solutions to meet rapidly growing and evolving organizational needs
Organize existing and novel systems as part of the overall strategic architecture. Help design, extend and maintain architecture of lab supportive information systems
Working directly with research teams, including bioinformatics, immunology, and chemistry to develop and prioritize support research goals
Organize and manage efforts of a cross-functional team to scope, build and deploy relevant informatics tools and systems. This will include leveraging both internal and external resources
Play key role in making technology recommendations for the company
Additional qualifications

B.S. in computer science, or a closely related field plus at least 5 years of experience developing software in the life sciences. Graduate degree in computer science or related field preferred
Demonstrated track record of implementing laboratory informatics to support research in a biotech/pharmaceutical environment. Experience should include direct support lab systems development, systems integration, and research workflows
Established expertise the software development lifecycle, with an emphasis on requirements gathering, implementation, and enhancements
Working knowledge of standard lab practices, including a history of working directly with lab research teams in an integrated environment
Experience with agile development practices
Ideal technical knowledge/background:
Advanced fluency with one or more scripting languages, Knowledge of Python, and Javascript preferred
Basic understanding of design/implementation of relational databases
Familiarity with cloud-based computing environments, such as AWS
Experience learning and using third-party Application Program Interfaces in custom solutions
Outstanding organizational skills, with a focus on connecting IT and Informatics requirements/goals with broader organizational goals
Strong ability to communicate with people of diverse professional backgrounds
A focus on delivery of stable, reliable solutions
