Senior Scientist, Biology at Relay Therapeutics

We are seeking a creative and self-motivated PhD scientist to join a dynamic team that is leveraging the relationship between protein motion and function to discover novel small molecule therapeutics in oncology.  The ideal candidate will combine an extensive knowledge of cancer biology with experience in small molecule drug discovery to help drive projects from exploratory stages to clinical development.  The Senior Scientist will lead experiments to evaluate target modulation hypotheses, develop pre-clinical models, evaluate candidate small molecules, develop translational medicine strategies, and manage research associates.  We seek team players with the ability to excel in multidisciplinary team settings.

Your role

You'll serve as biology lead on project teams focused on the development of small molecule modulators of clinically relevant targets in cancer

Design and lead biology experiments to assess targets, evaluate candidate small molecules, and support drug discovery

Design and oversee execution of in vivo pharmacology efforts at CROs

You will lead translational research experiments including the evaluation of pharmacodynamics, assessment of responder hypotheses, establishment of clinical biomarker assays, and development of translational medicine plans

You will manage a small team of research associates/junior scientists

Interpret, summarize and present research findings at internal and external scientific meetings/conferences

Proactively review literature to bring in the newest scientific findings, ideas, and methods/technologies to impact drug discovery projects

Your background

You earned your Ph.D. and have post-doctoral training in Cancer Biology with demonstrated experience in oncology small molecule drug discovery

You have at least 3-8 years of experience in biotech/pharma

Proven track record of scientific excellence as evidenced by high impact, peer reviewed publications and/or patents

You're a leader with a successful track record and desire to mentor and develop direct reports

Capability to work within a dynamic matrix environment, with strong contribution to project strategies and progression

You've got excellent communication, presentation, and inter-personal skills; superb organizational and problem-solving skills
