Are you excited about applying new technologies to solve big problems? We are seeking scientists to work with us in leveraging the power of single cell genomics towards the pursuit of novel drugs for patients with cancer and autoimmune diseases. You will be key in the design and execution of single-cell genomic screens, interpreting the results of these experiments, and following through on validating new targets that come from these screens. We seek people who are curious about new science, comfortable being independent, confident in voicing their opinions, flexible to change as needs arise, and open to working with others on a diverse team.
- Adaptation of new cutting-edge single-cell genomics technologies towards clinically relevant questions and developing these techniques towards optimized and standardized methods.
- Generating new ideas for single-cell genomic interrogation experiments.
- Immunological characterization of primary tissues (e.g. FACS, spatial methods such as RNA-FISH).
- Analyzing large/diverse datasets to find relevant drug discovery targets.
- Follow-through of individual targets, including CRISPR-mediated target dissection, analysis of signal transduction mechanisms, and downstream effects on immune cell subsets.
- PhD degree in molecular/cellular biology, immunology, cancer biology, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience working in an academic or industry lab, with a proven track record of hands-on experience working successfully with primary samples.
- Experience with next-generation sequencing techniques is a must, with experience in single-cell RNA-seq methods (e.g. Smartseq2, 10X) highly preferred.
- A deep knowledge of immunology is required, with experience designing, performing, and interpreting the results of multiple techniques (e.g. multicolor flow, MLR, PBMC isolation, polarization of diverse immune cell subtypes from primary cells).
- Familiarity with computational biology tools, and experience working with computational biologists to solve problems. Experience with single-cell computational biology methods is highly preferred.
- Ability to leverage genetic (e.g. CRISPR) and other methods to interrogate target biology.
- Experience in histology techniques or mass cytometry is an asset.
- A proven ability to troubleshoot technical and scientific issues, both individually and as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
