PhD Scientist, Biology at Relay Therapeutics
Cambridge, MA, US
Our company was founded on the premise that protein motion can be used to build breakthrough medicines. The team at Relay is putting this principle into practice, with the aim of accelerating the development of medicines that will make a transformative difference in patients’ lives. We don't just stare hard problems in the face. We go out looking for them. Are you energized by attempting to do the impossible? We're looking for you.
At Relay, our team is energized by the ultimate collaboration between chemistry, computation, and biochemistry & biophysics.  Putting protein motion at the heart of drug discovery is a challenge, but we are confident that our team’s dedication and urgency will create opportunities that deeply impact the lives of the patients. We're building a company for the ages. Are you ready to #jointherelay?

The opportunity

    • We are looking for a self-motivated researcher to join our Biology team. At Relay we apply cutting edge technology towards the discovery, characterization, and optimization of small molecule therapeutics towards targets representing high, unmet medical needs. We are seeking a scientist who is highly motivated, creative, and collaborative.

Your role

    • Independently design and execute experiments to evaluate target dependency and conformational hypotheses in cancer contexts. Your work will help enable us to assess both mechanism and small molecule modulation of cancer targets, including hit identification, validation and optimization.
    • Perform experiments aimed at the biological evaluation of small molecules impacting cancer dependency pathways and anti-cancer immunity, including identification of pre-clinical models and the development of cell-based assays.
    • Proactively review literature to bring in the newest scientific findings, ideas, and methods/technologies for discovery research. We’ll depend on you to assess, adopt and implement new technologies and experimental techniques that will enhance and enable drug discovery.
    • You can expect that analysis, interpretation, documentation, and presentation of your data to local groups and project teams will be part of your day.
    • Your voice is important. We’ll count on you to contribute to group knowledge and expertise through collaboration and idea exchange with multidisciplinary teams

Your background

    • You earned a Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Oncology or a related discipline.
    • You have spent 1-3 years in postdoctoral training preferably in oncology research.
    • You have a track record of high-impact publications in peer-reviewed journals.
    • You have expertise in molecular and cellular biology techniques with experience with in vitro and in vivomodels of cancer
    • You're an open communicator with the ability to analyze, interpret, and present data in a clear manner.
At Relay, we believe that along with our scientists, our culture is our greatest asset.  In fact we're proud to share we were named as one of the Boston Business Journal's "Top Places to Work" in 2017 & 2018.  To drive that culture, no one will stop you or hold you back. Instead, we will give you the tools and colleagues to push forward relentlessly and cheer you on as you go. If this resonates with you, drop us a line.
