The Role: 
Goldfinch Bio seeks a full-stack software engineer to develop software systems and data warehouses to support all phases of drug development.  This exciting role will play a pivotal role within our informatics group and serve as a key resource for a quickly growing company serving a severe unmet medical need in kidney disease.  The selected individual will work closely between our Research, Translation and Computational Research groups to define and build software and tools that will support further understanding of kidney disease, identification of biomarkers and identification of patients for enrollment into clinical trials.  A successful candidate will be able to seamlessly discuss business rules and translate these into actionable software requirements.


Job Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Build a custom translational research platform that will enable deep introspection of patients with kidney disease to help elucidate their genetic drivers, scalable to many thousands of patients

  • Interact closely with members of the Biology, Translational and Computational Research teams to design and build a cutting-edge platform with custom dashboards

  • Design and implement a data warehouse and APIs to store a wide range of multi-omic patient data

  • Implement automated data analysis pipelines at scale (NGS, scRNA, image analysis, etc)

  • Integrate advanced algorithms, big data analytics and report generation into production workflow

  • Other projects as assigned


Required Skills & Qualifications


  • BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science, Bioinformatics or similar discipline is required

  • Strong programmer with proven experience developing professional applications in Python

  • Strong proficiency in Node.js and/or AngularJS, JavaScript and client-side web development

  • Experience building relational and non-relational databases

  • Great attention to detail, and the ability to critically evaluate data that your code produces

  • The ability to communicate with non-technical personnel and the capacity to translate requests into actionable software requirements

  • Ability to manage workflow, priorities, and deadlines, while handling multiple projects as part of a small team

Preferred Experience in addition to the above:

  • 5-10 years professional software development experience

  • Experience working in Amazon Web Services

  • Experience with data visualization in Spotfire

  • Experience with version control, preferably git

  • Experience working with Docker and/or AWS ECR

  • Experience writing unit tests in Python

  • Deep functional knowledge and/or experience with Web Services (REST, SOAP, etc.)

  • Working knowledge of genetic/genomic and bioinformatics tools and technologies

  • Experience with workflow execution engines, such as AWS Step Functions, Luigi, Cromwell or NextFlow
