The opportunity

    • We are looking for a self-motivated researcher with a strong background in Protein Biochemistry and who loves proteins to join our Biochemistry, Biophysics and Structural Biology team. Our group puts protein motion to the center of drug discovery. We work on targets representing high unmet medical needs in oncology and once expressed and purified to high quality apply cutting edge technology towards the discovery, characterization and optimization of small molecule therapeutics.

Your role

    • You’ll take a central role in Relay’s powerful protein expression platform. Within this role, you will support efforts in protein expression, purification and biophysical characterization for our diverse portfolio of targets.

    • You can expect that analysis, interpretation, documentation as well as presentation within our group and project teams will be part of your day.

    • We’ll depend on you to optimize protein expression and purification to support our drug discovery programs.

    • You will work closely and collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team

    • Your voice is important, and we will count on you to contribute to group knowledge and expertise through collaboration and idea exchange across teams.

Your background

    • You earned a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics or a related field.

    • You have spent at least 5 or more years gaining relevant industry experience.

    • You have a solid understanding of protein biochemistry and expert knowledge in expression and purification.

    • You have experience in expressing ‘challenging’ proteins from bacterial, insect and mammalian cells and you are familiar with high throughput workflows for expression screening and purification.

    • You have experience with protein quality control (QC) through a variety of biochemical and biophysical assays (e.g. SDS-PAGE, WB, DSF, nanoDSF, DLS, SEC-MALS).

    • You’re an articulate, open communicator with the ability to analyze, interpret and present data in a clear manner.

    • Have you used mass spectrometry for characterizing proteins for intact mass and peptide mapping? This is a big plus.
