We are seeking an outstanding candidate to join the CMC team at Terremoto Biosciences, located in South San Francisco. The Associate Scientist/Scientist will support discovery and will play a key role in clinical drug substance and drug product development. Reporting to the Director, CMC, the candidate will work flexibly across several small molecule drug development programs, leading from the bench while occasionally managing outsourced activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute analytical methods to support small molecule drug development and manufacturing,
- Analytical characterization of molecules and drug products to support Discovery Chemistry, Formulation Development, and Process Chemistry development
- Design experiments, critically interpret analytical data, document results, and communicate technical insights within cross-functional teams
- Oversight of analytical activities at external partners, providing troubleshooting and technical guidance as needed
- Oversight of reference standard qualification and maintenance
- Author and review technical documents including test procedures, stability protocols and reports, validation protocols and reports, development reports, and retest/shelf-life extensions
- Contribute to the development of product specifications and control strategies
Professional Experience/Qualifications:
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related discipline, with 6+ years, 3+ years, or 0+ years, respectively, of relevant industry experience in analytical chemistry.
- Strong theoretical knowledge of organic chemistry and analytical chemistry
- Familiarity with pharmaceutics and physicochemical properties of small molecules
- 2+ years of independent, hands-on experience in HPLC method development, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Technical understanding of GC, particle size, dissolution, x-ray diffraction, Karl Fischer titration, DSC, and DVS. Hands-on experience with these techniques is a plus
- Familiarity with cGXPs and ICH guidelines relevant to small molecule drug development
- Effective interpersonal communication and technical writing abilities
- Collaborative mindset suited for success in a fast-paced, scientifically-focused environment
* The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in South San Francisco, CA is $135,000 to $150,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type, and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Terremoto Biosciences, is a multi-state employer and this salary range may not reflect positions that work only in other states.
